Great!Kogi helps you identify vinyl discs as well as other type of releases.
Thanks to Discogs: the biggest and more precise music database on the Web, we are able to recognize most of the music in the many formats you may use.
Kogi is currently based on character recognition. The main requirement for a successfull scan is text being present on the media.
What you need to do is simply to scan the release!
Most discs are recognized in less than 5 seconds!
The user is important to us! This app was crafted with simplicity in mind.
You know, this funny thing that brings human together!
Kogi's database is based on Discogs. If the release does not exist on Discogs, you will not be able to find it here. The recognition mechanism works with characters on the disc. If no characters are on the disc, we will not be able to help your find you release accordingly, even if it is a cute bunny ;-(.
You need proper lighting conditions when taking the picture, otherwise this will result in poor results. Discogs allows us to update our database only once a month. If the release is too recent, you will not be able to find it.
There are currently no plans to make the user pay at the moment. Although some future releases may introduce a mechanism to financialy compensate the author of the application.
Feedback is always welcome! You can contact kogi-app@nalto.eu if you have any suggestions, complaints or any bugs to report.
Kogi is the name of an indegenous people from Colombia. Their beliefs are strongly linked to Mother Nature. They have a deep concern about global warming and are warning people about the risk of excessive consumption of earth's ressources. If you feel interested by their commitment, the author strongly encourage the user to watch a BBC documentary available at the following address. This application is a tribute to this people.
This application currently does not store any personal information; either on this device or in the cloud. However in future releases, it is planned for the user to be able to save his scan history in the cloud. For that, we will need to store data such as your email.
The application was developed with ♥ in Paris by Lancelot Blondeel.
